Story
Story är en 2-årig yrkesutbildning i manus och dramaturgi för dig som vill bli manusförfattare i film- eller tv-branschen. Här får du personlig handledning och undervisning av världens mest kända manusförfattare och dramaturger.
Utbildningen hålls i en av Sveriges största filmstudios Kustateljén med 1000 m2 studioyta anpassad för professionella filmproduktioner.
Om utbildningen
På Story får du som blivande manusförfattare göra det du kom för att göra: Skriva. Under utbildningen får du skapa och skriva upp till tre långfilmer, skriva en timmes pilotavsnitt till en egenutvecklad dramaserie, skuggskriva åtminstone två episoder till ett skarpt externt projekt för ett av Sveriges största produktionsbolag samt vara med i ett writing room för att tillsammans med en kreativ producent utveckla en kortserie som produceras på skolan ihop med Film Crew.
I slutet av varje läsår får du möjlighet att presentera ditt projekt för några av Sveriges mest erkända produktionsbolag och filmproducenter.
Målet med utbildningen
Målet med utbildningen är att du som deltagare efter de två åren ska ha de färdigheter som krävs för att du ska kunna arbeta självständigt som manusförfattare, arbeta mot uppdragsgivare med eget eller andras projekt samt kunna arbeta som avsnittsförfattare, individuellt eller i ett writersroom.

Paolo Vacirca
Lecturer, Instructor
Paolo Vacirca works as a screenwriter, executive producer, and story developer at the Scandinavian Content Group. He has worked as a development manager at AB Svensk Filmindustri. Paolo has written many scripts for assignments. He has wrung credits for Hypnotist, Abomination, and latest the horror movie Feed.
Karel Segers
Lecturer, Instructor
Karel Segers is a story consultant, writer, and producer. Karel is also a certified teacher whose lectures have inspired students worldwide. His clients include award-winning filmmakers, of which three Oscar nominees. He has writing credits for Danger Close.
Steve Mazur
Lecturer, Instructor
Mazur has taught screenwriting for the past ten years, including four years at AFI and five years with the Professional Writing Program at USC. He’s written or co-written scripts for Universal, DreamWorks, Warner Bros., MGM, Imagine, Paramount, Sony, CBS, A&E, Spike TV, and Disney, including LIAR, LIAR, and the latest ”The Philosophy of Phil.”

William Rabkin

Veteran TV writer/showrunner William Rabkin is the author of the best-selling Writing the Pilot and Writing the Pilot: Creating the Series. He is an associate professor of television writing. Twice nominated for the Edgar Award by the Mystery Writers of America, he is currently developing and writing a 12-episode thriller for Chinese television and consulting for a major Dutch production company.
Neil Landau

Award-winning screenwriter and executive producer. He was also known as the author of”The TV Showrunner’s Roadmap” and ”screenwriters roadmap. Neil has taught at both UCLA and USC and was dean at UCLA.

Jeff Kitchen

Jeff has taught thousands of students from Broadway to Hollywood. Jeff was classically trained as a playwright in the works of Aristotle and the legendary Broadway script doctor, W.T. Price, who, in the early 1900s, established the world’s only playwriting school. Price instructed twenty-eight students, and twenty-four of them had hits on Broadway. So why wasn’t everyone studying him? Price’s complex techniques and thinking processes were not easily understood.

Varje torsdag så hyr folkhögskolan Fårösunds idrottshall. Där ses vi, både deltagare och personal, för att röra på oss tillsammans. Det är en fullskalig idrottshall där det finns möjlighet att spela bland annat badminton, bordtennis och innebandy. Detta är kostnadsfritt för dig.
Det finns också tillgång till simhallen i samma byggnad en timme varje vecka. Även denna är kostnadsfri.
Det ingår också ett antal skolgemensamma obligatoriska hel- och halvdagar.

För att söka till Story behöver du ha ett starkt intresse för att skriva filmmanus och ambitionen att arbeta som manusförfattare i filmbranschen.
I din ansökan till Story ska du bifoga:
- CV och betyg eller kursintyg från tidigare utbildning.
- Eventuella arbetsbetyg/-intyg, exempelvis rekomendationsbrev på max en A4.
- Personligt brev på max 1 A4. Brevet kan utformas fritt, men ska innehålla:
- Beskrivning av vem du är och varför du söker utbildningen.
- Vilka eventuella erfarenheter du har av att arbeta med manus.
- Beskrivning av var du befinner dig yrkesmässigt om 5 år
- Arbetsprover:
- En sammanfattning av en befintlig, valfri kommersiell film som är högst 20 år gammal (1 A4-sida).
- 2 scener i manusformat på vardera 3 A4.
- 1 stycke ”onepager” där du beskriver en idé som du vill utveckla.
Sammanställ arbetsproverna i en pdf med sidnumrering. Namnge dokumentet med ditt namn samt personnummer.
Vi tillämpar en löpande antagning och du kan bli kallad till intervju personligen eller via telefon redan innan ansökningsperioden är slut.
Besked om antagning sker löpande men ska ha nått alla i slutet av juni, med undantag för restplatser som kan erbjudas fram till kursstart.
Som deltagare på Gotlands folkhögskola erbjuds du boende på vårt internat. Antalet platser är begränsat och du får mer information om hur de fördelas om du kommer vidare i ansökningsprocessen.
Det finns även möjlighet att hyra boende av privata hyresvärdar i Fårösund.

Undervisningen vid folkhögskolan är kostnadsfri.
Som deltagare på Story betalar du en fast avgift på 5 000 kr/läsår för litteratur, resor, förbrukningsmaterial och teknik.
